After breakfast (previously described), Winn and I went to the hardware store and supermarket for a look around, and to get me some fluorescent tape for my bathroom step. (Turns out the tape didn't glow in the dark.) It got quite warm on our walk, so we turned on the A/C, and recovered. Soon after, we met our young guide/entrepreneur and set up tomorrow's San Juan del Sur trip.
We were into siesta time, so I did. Winn unpacked her wayward suitcase, once she got past the tough plastic tie. About 3:30, we met my next door neighbor, Lise from Canada. We invited her to all of our activities. Next, we went to see an Australian lady who runs La Esperanza Granada, which has volunteers who support and work at the local schools. We are hoping to get a tour week after next. However, she needs people who speak Spanish better than I do, and for longer than one month. There is a benefit for their schools tonight at O'Shea's Pub, and a pub quiz for donation activity. Of course, Willa, Winn, and Lise are going.
Then, it was Centro de Arte....a boutique, art gallery and art lesson place, etc. I bought a large straw hat for the beach tomorrow. All of the items are made from local materials, by local co-ops. We found our volunteer opportunity there. Lauren volunteers at the local vet clinic where her boyfriend is the vet. She will walk us in on Friday, and then we are on our own. The Centro de Arte is having a wine and chocolate tasting benefit Friday night, so of course we will go.
The pub and pub quiz were fun. The three of us met up with a couple who are volunteering at one of the schools. Our five person team came in third. Our prize was 50% off at the laundromat. We are already planning to go again next week.
Very early in the morning, and I am headed for our next adventure.
Willa
