Note from Granada

Happy in Granada, Nicaragua.  It is very warm and moist here, perfect for a siesta.  I left my camera at home by accident.  Not happy with myself.  I'll get Winn to take some pictures for me.

We have ducks at the end of our infinity pool.  Everyone is very friendly.  We have a young tour company owner, who will help us do whatever.  We go to the coast (Pacific) at San Juan del Sur tomorrow.  We are going with some California gals, one of whom is a surfer.

Yesterday was an adventure.  Winn's plane was late, and she almost didn't make the Miami connection.  I was quite worried until I saw her face.  Her luggage did not make it, but was delivered this morning.  We came out of the arrival area, to find no guide waiting.  Finally a young man from Masaya (my seat mate on the plane) made a call to the hotel.  Our taxi wasn't too long after that, but he had to keep asking directions to find our hotel.

Our rooms are up two flights of stairs.  I do better without my cane so far.  My wrist is getting some exercise, as the brace is off.  We had a lovely full breakfast this morning.  I had scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, and a chocolate crepe and plenty of coffee, and a little passion fruit juice.

Yesterday, we went walking around, had some snacks, and found the central park.  There were lots of horses with carriages....a big thing here.  We walked back to the hotel, and took a self-guided tour around it.  We met one of the beauty contestants, Karmen.  She was pleased I had voted for her.  Later, we went and had a cafe latte and extraordinary mango cheesecake.  We will return there.

The chocolate museum is right here, and is very interesting.  We've met Americans, Germans, a large medical team here on a mission, a Dutch gal, and Parisian gals who work here, and a number of the staff.

  1. Hi Winn/Willa:
Thanks a million for taking the time to create this log of your visit. The chocolate museum sounded really neat, so I hunted around on the net for it. Is this it? http://chocomuseo.com/
